The Thousand Islands Backgammon Tournament has been taking place for many years now in Alexandria Bay. This year’s tournament has been very successful as it took place over the first weekend of August. The tournament was held at the Pine Tree Point Resort and the Resort will serve as the location for next year’s tournament.

Twenty seven players from New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania and Canada have participated in the weekend long tournament. The competition included doubles matches and is associated with the American Backgammon Tour.

Backgammon has slowly integrated onto the internet and this has helped those who want to improve their game or just enjoy a round with fellow players. Backgammon players have now begun to hone their skills in the game in online play to be better able to compete at live tournaments.

Several big name players were in attendance including those who have won the ABT as well as the Thousand Island Tournament. It has proved to be an exciting and enjoyable weekend for all involved.
