Art Exhibit Shows Game of Backgammon in New Perspective
A special art exhibit in Israel will be featuring the game of backgammon in a different light. Sixty artists will have their works presented at the Givatayim municipal art gallery. Each piece was created on a backgammon gaming board and will represent peace and coexistence.

Each piece of art work was designed on the backs of the backgammon boards. Among the sixty artists represented in the exhibit are: Keren Shpilsher, Joshua Griffit, Yoel Gilinsky, Haya Graetz Ran, Hadas Levy, Mirit Cohen Caspi, and Karen Gillerman, daughter of former Ambassador to the UN Danny Gillerman.

Those who did not cover peace and coexistence in the art focused on the folk culture of the Middle East as well as the Jewish perspective and the history of the Jewish people. The goal of each artist was to express the need to achieve peace for all nations in the Middle East.

According to the curators and producers of the exhibit, the backgammon game symbolizes the desire to reach reconciliation and understanding between two opponents in that it provides an opportunity for culture and creative meeting as each side tries to move his pieces across the game board.
