The European Backgammon Tour has announced that the French Backgammon Open will take place beginning October 28th and continuing until November 2nd 2008. This event will have 50,000 €uro in added prize money to be distributed throughout several events. The Open will be followed by the 4th European Doubles Consulting Championships. The best players from all over the world are expected to attend the event and many consider it to be one of their favorite tournaments.

The tournament will take place at the Casino Barrlere d’Enghlen-les-Bains and a registration fee is required that will include entrance into the casino, a daily allowance in drinks and a free seat to the gala dinner and awards ceremony. Fees vary according to your level of play, with Masters being the highest followed by Advanced, Intermediate, and Amateur. There will also be a ladies tournament, Doubles Pro/Am, European Doubles Championship Doubles and Rebuy Doubles.

Players can also attend a seminar to be given by Top Backgammon player Matvey “Falafel” Natanzon. Matvey has stated that this is one of his favorite tournaments and “one of the most important events of the international backgammon circuit”.

Over 35 trophies will be awarded during the Open and Texas hold’em poker will be available at the casino during the Championships. A free seat will be given to the winner to attend the French Open at the Next European Backgammon Tour.
