Player Profile Database Launched at WSOB
The World Series of Backgammon has launched a new database on their website for players of the WSOB events. The site has created a WSOP Profile that is a semi-automated database that holds players profiles along with information of official WSOB event participants. The profile was created for new online players trying the low-entry satellites as well as those who play in the World Series of Backgammon Events. The site has a new World Backgammon Ratings system that is used along with the WSOB Race Standing to create the profiles. This information helps to build the information portion about the status of the player.
To determine strength and performance of players in major international events the prize money earned is used to rate those factors. Any WBR and WSOB information is added automatically to the player’s profile. Player profiles have a personal blog where a player can add information on all time prize money won other events standings and close finishes.
The World Series of Backgammon Director, Andy Bell, stated: "In the Backgammon game there are several benchmarks needed to help determine the leading players in the world. WSOB performance is one of the key barometers we can use to help identify the capability and the consistency of the players. The WSOB Profile is a great tool to build this knowledge for the playing community and the growing worldwide television audience who are perhaps new to the game."
