Russian Vs Georgian Backgammon Match Hosted by Play65
Play65 is an Israel online backgammon website. The site recently launched their Georgian platform for players in that area and realized that players from both Georgia and Russia, that border each other, could play online together in harmony, unlike the war torn outside world.

The day after the Georgian platform was released by Play65, the site hosted a game with two players representing both sides: Georgia and Russia. Zaza83 is a 29 year old from Georgia who played with white checkers while Kirill9009 played the black checkers representing Russia.

Both players were up for a little friendly competition and the winner of the match was Kirill9009. Zaza83 stated that it was nice to have the opportunity to talk with people from the other side of the border while playing backgammon. He said: “I’ve been playing backgammon since I was six…I just started playing online this week, but I plan to continue and I’m sure I’ll get to compete against other Russian players.”

The addition of the Georgian platform is the twentieth backgammon platform that Play65 has launched. This is the first time that a website has been created for the people of Georgia allowing them to come online and play a multi player version of backgammon. The website is available in the Nardi language, the native tongue of Georgia.

It is amazing how a simple game online can bring people together in times of turmoil and strife. The internet can cross barriers that a person can not physically do. Online players can create valuable friendships with the players they compete against and also learn more about different cultures while playing a game they love.
