Whatcom Dispute Resolution Center Raises $1,100 during Charity Backgammon Tournament
The Whatcom Dispute Resolution Center in Bellingham held their first ever Compete for a Cause Backgammon tournament on May 30th to raise money for the center. The backgammon tournament was able to raise $1,100 in funds which will help the center educate and train people in peaceful conflict resolution.

The backgammon tournament had thirty two entrants with brackets available for the novice and experienced players. Players came from all around to compete including British Columbia and Oregon.

A local man, Russ Kendall, walked away with the first place prize in the novice bracket while Grant Foster of British Colombia earned first in the open bracket. The Whatcom Dispute Resolution Center will now focus on an upcoming Cribbage tournament which is scheduled for September.

But with the success of the first backgammon tournament it will be interesting to see if the Whatcom Dispute Resolution Center will be hosting more backgammon tournaments or if they will be trying another type of game.
