World Backgammon Champion Tim Holland Passes Away
A world backgammon champion who was one of the best competitors in the world has passed away. Tim Holland passed away this past Wednesday at his home in West Palm Beach. Holland was seventy nine years old. Holland was a tough competitor in the game of backgammon in the 60s and 70s and he would travel the world taking on the toughest opponents. Holland won the World Backgammon Association championships in 1967, 1968 and 1971. He earned his living by competing in tournaments and making wagers on games.
Holland also wrote books on the subject of backgammon including Better Backgammon, Beginning Backgammon and Backgammon for People Who Hate to Lose. Holland also created Autobackgammon which is a teaching aid for backgammon players.
Holland was fixture in backgammon and is known by the best players in the world. He contributed greatly to the game and his teachings and books will continue to help those who want to learn the game.
